A new event will bring home the bacon, literally, this summer in Washington.

The Washington Rotary Club and Emmaus Homes are teaming up to sponsor Baconfest Saturday, June 15, at the city fairgrounds in the pork pavilion.

Visitors will be able to sample bacon-enhanced food for four hours, from 3 to 7 p.m., with proceeds going toward local projects.

There also will be a bacon T-shirt available for purchase and a bacon eating contest, along with music.

Frick’s Quality Meats is the major sponsor.

Contest Rules

As details are being finalized for the first-ever event, organizers are sponsoring a logo contest.

The artwork must be submitted in a high resolution PDF file or clean camera-ready copy, according to the rules.

All artwork must be black and white. A grayscale version may be submitted for consideration, however, the black and white version will be the only piece guaranteed to be used.

The artwork must contain the following information and be legible: Baconfest, Washington, Missouri, and Tagline (slogan).

Additionally, artwork size should not exceed 8 1/2 by 11.

The Washington Rotary Club will become the exclusive owner of the artwork after it is submitted and will retain the right to use the artwork, whole or in part, at any point in the future.

The contest will run through Jan. 31. The winner will be announced Feb. 15.

Submissions must include contact name, full address, phone number and email.

The person submitting the winning artwork will receive two tickets for Baconfest, two T-shirts and photo in The Missourian.

Artwork can be submitted by mail or email to the Washington Rotary Club, BACONFEST Logo Contest, P.O. Box 95, Washington, MO 63090; or baconfest@washingtonrotary.com.

For more information, people may contact, Ginny Brinker, committee member, at 636-239-2636.

Baconfest Tickets

Tickets for Baconfest can soon be purchased online at baconfest@washingtonrotary.com and will be sold at area businesses this spring.

Ticket prices are: 16 and up, $25; 6-15, $10; and 5 and under, free. Included with the ticket will be one alcoholic drink per adult ticket and one nonalcoholic drink per child ticket.

Beer, soda, water and bacon Bloody Mary’s will be available for purchase.
