The latest in home improvement, new construction and lawn and garden can all be found under one roof this weekend at the Washington Home Show.
The free show, sponsored by the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce, was scheduled to open Friday night at the city park auditorium.
Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
A total of 39 vendors with 46 booths will participate, according to Amanda Griesheimer, Chamber marketing director.
Griesheimer said the show will have “something for everyone” and even those who have attended in the past will find many new vendors.
“We have 13 new vendors and for the first time, a public service where people can find out information about the city and local organizations,” she said.
Participating groups include the Washington Urban Forestry Council, CASA, Washington Parks Department, Washington Senior Center, Washington Historical Society, United Way, Washington Fire Department, Downtown Washington Inc., Washington Public Library and Washington Tourism Division.
“Representatives of each of the groups will take shifts to work in the booth and answer questions and share information,” Griesheimer said.
There will be daily demonstrations beginning Friday with the Washington Police Explorers offering its child ID program from 5 to 8 p.m. and Hillermann Nursery & Florist giving a presentation on drought survival tips at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the Police Explorers will be back from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and blood pressure screenings will be offered by the Washington School of Practical Nursing from 10 a.m. to noon. For children, face painting will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there will be a toolboxes for kids activity at 11 a.m.
Kitchenware will present a food demo at 12:30 p.m. Saturday followed by another presentation from Hillermann Nursery on birds and butterflies from 2 to 3 p.m.
The Police Explorers will be back Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and face painting will be available during those times as well.
Weber Bros. Construction will have a demo on building a birdhouse at noon and Kitchenware returns for another food demo at 1 p.m.
The Washington School of Practical of Nursing will again offer blood pressure screenings from noon to 2 p.m.
Admission and parking are free. Food, soda and beer will be available for purchase all three days. The Washington Lions Club will man the concession stand.
The Chamber will again sponsor a scavenger hunt for visitors with a chance to win a Washington Town and Country Fair season pass and round-trip tickets on Amtrak.
Griesheimer said the weather forecast looks good to bring out the crowds.
