The Washington School Board recognized Rick Rehmeier Tuesday night, who is retiring after 12 years.
Rehmeier has served on the board since 2001 and held all four officer positions, including president from 2007-09. He also served on several board committees.
“His dedication and commitment to our students and staff will be missed,” said Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer.
“Rick was a tremendous board member, who was very level-headed and very invested in the school district,” she said. “Even prior to serving on the board, he was involved in WINGS and boosters clubs.
“We wish him the very best,” she added.
Rehmeier said it had been a pleasure to serve on the board and vowed to stay involved in the district, noting he has many grandchildren who are or will be attending Washington public schools.
