A couple from the New Haven area who operate a business in Washington are facing multiple felony charges, authorities said.

Charged in indictments issued by the Franklin County grand jury are Michael B. Gillette, 42, and Jennifer Gillette, 35, owners of Midwest Exteriors in Washington.

Both are charged with seven counts of felony stealing by deceit. They were released last week after posting bonds of $30,000 each.

Washington police allege that the Gillettes took money from customers as down payments on work they proposed to perform on the victims’ homes, but never did the work and did not refund the down payments.

According to the allegations, some of the victims paid thousands of dollars upfront but did not have any work done that was promised.

The alleged thefts identified in the indictments occurred in May, June and July, 2011.

According to online court documents, the Gillettes and Midwest Exteriors are defendants in multiple civil lawsuits.

Since the grand jury indictments were issued, another victim has come forward from the Washington area, according to Detective Kevin Blackwell.

Police are asking that anyone else who may be a victim in the case to come forward with information. They can call the detective division at 636-390-1057.
