Local Students Honored

Two local students have been selected to attend the Missouri Scholars 100 Program Sunday, April 28, in Columbia.

Luke Schriewer, a senior at St. Francis Borgia Regional High School, and Taylor Straatmann, a senior at Washington High School, will participate in the statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri’s top academic students in the graduating Class of 2013.

Leah Scheer, a WHS senior, has been selected an Honorable Mention for the program.

The students will be recognized at a luncheon at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia.

The Missouri Scholars program is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

Schools across Missouri nominated students from their schools to be a part of this recognition program.

The selection is based on a minimum GPA of 3.750, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,900, be ranked in the upper 10 percent of their class, and have taken upper level courses in mathematics, science, English and foreign language.

Students also must have excellent attendance, be exemplary school citizens; and be involved in extracurricular activities at the school.

Schriewer is the son of JoAnn Schriewer and the late Brian Schriewer.

Straatmann is the daughter of Alex and Judy Straatmann.
