An “unauthorized intrusion” of East Central College’s online ticketing system was detected April 25, the school announced today.

Vendini Inc. provides online ticketing services to ECC and hundreds of other entertainment venues, an alert sent out by the college states.

“Based on their records, customers who used a credit card to make a purchase that was processed through Vendini’s service may have had their information compromised in this incident,” said Phil Pena, vice president of finance and administration at ECC. “At this time no fraud claims have been made, and the college is notifying individuals who made a purchase with a credit card about this situation.”

The email alert was sent to customers who used the ticketing service to make a credit card purchase. No fraud claims have been made in connection with the incident, the email alert states.

“Vendini is actively cooperating with federal law enforcement, and this notification was delayed specifically to support law enforcement’s investigation,” the alert states.

Members of ECC’s Patrons of the Arts program who did not make a credit card transaction with Vendini can be assured that none of their information has been compromised, according to the college.

Vendini believes a “third-party criminal actor used hacking technologies to access their databases and may have accessed personal information, such as name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and credit card numbers and expiration dates.”

To prevent identity theft and fraud, customers are urged to regularly view credit card statements and credit reports.

Those who believe they have been victimized by this action should contact local law enforcement, the state Attorney General’s Office or the Federal Trade Commission.

Do not respond to any requests for sensitive personal information in relation to the incident.

For more information, please contact Vendini at 1-800-836-0473 or the college at boxoffice@eastcentral.edu.
