Man Charged With Deviate Sexual Assault, Burglary

Authorities have charged a man accused of sexually assaulting another man in Washington.

The prosecuting attorney’s office issued felony and misdemeanor charges this week against Matthew R. Roque, 22, in connection with a June 4 incident.

Roque, described in the complaint as homeless, is charged with felony counts of first-degree burglary and deviate sexual assault, and one count of misdemeanor stealing.

Associate Circuit Judge Dave Hoven set a $100,000 cash-only bond in the case.

Roque is accused in the complaint of unlawfully entering an apartment in the 20 block of West Second Street and committing deviate sexual assault on the victim, described by the intials R.S.M., according to authorities.

The victim told police he was asleep in his apartment and woke up to find the suspect performing a sexual act on him, according to a probable cause statement filed in court.

The man ordered the suspect out, then called police who located Roque a short distance away. They later recovered a pair of underwear which the victim reported had been stolen.
