Informational Meeting January 30 for Annual Heart Walk

The annual Franklin County Heart Walk will take place Saturday, March 9, at the Washington city park swine pavilion.

This is the fourth year the city of Washington will host the walk.

The walk is sponsored nationally by Subway and Jenny Craig and locally by the Bank of Washington and Mercy.

The Heart Walk will again feature a one- and three-mile route around Lions Lake and through Downtown Washington.

The walk is open to the general public and there is no fee to participate. Both family teams and individual walkers are welcome.

The bank hopes to see an increase this year over the last two years’ attendance of approximately 600.

The goal this year is to raise $70,000 for research and programs to help the American Heart Association reach its goal of reducing heart disease and stroke.

Each year, local corporations organize teams to participate in Heart Walks across the country to raise awareness and money for research against heart disease and stroke.

An informational meeting on the Washington walk will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, at noon at the Bank of Washington. Any company interested in forming a team is asked to attend. Reservations can be made to Ruth at 636-221-3608.

Walker envelopes can be picked up at the Bank of Washington.
