Sponsors for the 25 Washington Town and Country Fair queen candidates were randomly drawn at the Chamber of Commerce banquet Saturday night, March 23.
Area businesses and professionals submit their names to serve as sponsors.
Kasey Wood, 2012 Fair Queen, and Danielle Unnerstall, a member of the queen committee, helped draw the names.
The Fair queen sponsors are as follows:
Augusta Winery, Bank of Franklin County, Bank of Washington, Brinker Promotions/Halo Branded Solution, Brown & Crouppen;
CG Powers Systems, Competitive Edge, Eric Park and George Meyer LPL Financial, Halcyon Spa, Heritage Community Bank;
Hodges Badge Company, Home Front Fitness, Imo’s Pizza, KJ Unnerstall Construction Co., Law Office of Mark Rudder LLC;
Legacy Electric, Lighthouse Dental, Mercy Hospital, Montelle Winery, N-Sports Recreation Center;
The Old Dutch Hotel, Schnucks Market, Shear Design/Joe’s Barber Shop, W&M Restaurants/Taco Bell and Williams Brothers Meat Market.
The queen contest will take place Wednesday, Aug. 7, opening night of the Washington Fair.
Scholarships will be awarded to the queen and her court.
At Saturday’s banquet, the outgoing queen thanked her sponsors, the Chamber and the community for their support and said serving as queen was a wondeful experience. Wood also said she looks forward to competing in the Missouri State Fair Queen Contest in August.
The queen committee has scheduled a number of activities for the candidates, including a Contestant/Sponsor Barbecue, “A Day in Washington,” “A Day of Beauty,” the Fair run/walk and the Fair parade.
