Traffic crashes in Washington were up in 2012 compared to 2011, but wrecks involving injuries, and the number of people injured were both down for the year, according to police.

There were 553 crashes reported on streets and highways in Washington last year, including 87 injury accidents resulting in 121 people hurt.
