Union Man Flees From Police, Arrested
A 20-year-old Union man was arrested Monday, Feb. 4, after he fled on foot from police outside of Wal-Mart.
Police said they approached the man at 9 p.m. outside of the store because he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
When officers tried to detain the suspect he fled on foot from the scene.
The suspect later contacted police and admitted to fleeing for fear of going to jail due to pending probation violation charges, authorities said.
A homemade plastic bong and a green “hooka” pipe, which both smelled strongly of burnt marijuana, were recovered from a vehicle the suspect had been in earlier, Union police said.
Charges will be sought against the man for resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
