St. Clair Fire Protection District Capt. Zach Fuchs pulls a hose in place as he prepares to wet down the area where a minor fire damaged the home at 740 Virginia St. in St. Clair at about noon on Monday. Emergency personnel at the scene said the small fire appeared to have started on the outside of the home near the front of the east side. Officials had not determined the source at the scene, however. A neighbor saw the fire, knocked on the door of the home and alerted the man and his two children inside. They escaped without incident or injury. Crews were on the scene for about an hour. For more information, see the Wednesday Missourian.
