A Cuba man suffered serious injuries on Saturday morning and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital St. Louis after a two-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 185 at the Interstate 44 overpass.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol's report, William C. Kitson, 30, was one of three individuals injured in the mishap that took place at 2 a.m. on Feb. 23.

The patrol stated that Kitson was northbound on Highway 185 driving a 1994 Buick Century when it ran into the back of a 2001 4900 International truck driven by Charles H. Corbett, 49, of Steelville. The truck also was northbound on the highway while Corbett was clearing snow off the road when the accident occurred.

Also injured were 34-year-old Charity J. Woolsey and 35-year-old Chris C. Counts, who both were passengers in Kitson's car. Their injuries were listed as minor and moderate, respectively.

Kitson was not injured.

None of three people hurt was wearing a safety belt. Counts and Woolsey were transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital for treatment.

The Century was totaled. Damage to the truck was moderate.
