A Farmers’ Market opened in Pacific this past Saturday, April 6, in Pacific Station Plaza.

Chris Thone, Catawissa, opened the market with assistance from her sister, Becky Hepps.

After moving here a year ago from Kirkwood and observing that there was no farmers’ market in Pacific she began to plan to open one.

The Pacific market will offer only Missouri grown produce, bought directly from growers, Thone said.

The market will open each Saturday and Sunday from now until early fall.

The Pacific Partnership, which operates Pacific Station Plaza, agreed to the use of the small municipal park to encourage this type of activity in the community, according to Jim Schwinkendorf, Partnership board member.

“Pacific residents will no longer have to drive out of town to access a farmers’ market,” Schwinkendorf said.
