Aldermen Approve New Zoning for Tavern
Aldermen approved a zone change for a tavern located at 147 W. St. Louis St.
The bill was read twice, allowing the ordinance to take effect immediately and the bar owner to proceed with opening the business.
During a public hearing to consider changing the zoning from C1, downtown commercial, to a planned unit development (PUD) for Handlebars, the bar owner asked for planned district commercial (PDC).
Cynthia Thiemet plans to reopen the bar formerly operated as RJ’s Double Six Saloon and Fire and Ice Tavern and Restaurant.
Under the conditional use permit (CUP), the business is not required to have off street parking. Also, there is to be no outdoor dining or consumption of alcohol.
Rich Stevens, who operated RJ’s Double Six Saloon on the site, owns the building.
