The Pacific Little League Basketball program completed its 2013 season at Riverbend School March 9 with two games for each team and time to pose for team photos.

Boys and girls from the Meramec Valley R-III School District, St. Bridget and St. John’s elementary schools participated in the five-week season.

Each team played a total of 10 games.

Although young athletes learn the rules and shoot to hit the basket, at this age the game is more about skills, sportsmanship and having fun than about defeating the other team, said Coach Herbert Coffey.

The league fields two teams from Zitzman Elementary, one each from Coleman and Truman and one from St. John’s. Games were played in the Riverbend School gymnasium on Saturdays from Feb. 9 to March 9.

Coaches were Angela Vollmer, David Vollmer, Coleman; Jared Kleekamp, St. John’s; John Baumgarth and Wade Iliff, Truman; Ken Bishop and Jim Cowsert, Zitzman 1; and Herb Coffey and Jason Harris, Zitzman 2.
