Love is in the air — and so is a little bit of magic — in the mythical town of Almost, Maine.

Pacific High School will stage John Cariani’s contemporary comedy, which offers a snapshot of some of Almost’s inhabitants at 9 p.m. on a cold, clear night in the middle of the deepest part of a northern Maine winter.

The play explores both the magic and the heartbreak of falling in love.

In less than 10 years, “Almost, Maine” has established itself as a staple of high school and college theaters.

Every year it ranks in the Top 10 of the most-produced plays by high schools across the nation, and twice it ranked No. 1. People of all ages are able to relate to “Almost, Maine,” because of its contemporary setting, and because of the common experiences it portrays.

“Almost, Maine” will run for two days only at Pacific High School — Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Ticket cost is $8 for adults and $4 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the night of each performance.

The cast includes many of the students who brought you “Hello, Dolly!” in November. They include Brady Smith, Jake Schultz, Andrew Groom, Leslea Walter, Joe Schimsa, Abby Sokeland, Katy Thrasher, Trish Baker, Jacob Schmidt, Joe Haley, Lexi Everhart, Amy Ketcherside, Jared Sprick, Alissa Doell and Shayne Filley.
