Wisper ISP, an internet service provider headquartered in Mascoutah, Ill., recently announced it acquired YHTI in Washington.

YHTI officially merged with Wisper ISP June 1.

Fred Becker, YHTI owner, founded the company in 2000.

“It’s a great opportunity to allow Fred to retire,” said Nathan Stooke, Wisper CEO.

Stooke said the company will keep the current office staff, technicians and installers. The office is located at 214 Elm St., Ste. 101.

The office will continue to run in Washington, he noted, to keep the local feel, but will operate under the Wisper ISP name.

“We love the downtown feel of Washington,” he added.

The merge will add a resource center to the Washington branch. Stooke said internet speeds will increase along with more bandwidth for the same price.

He’s also planning to add employees so there will be more than three people monitoring the network.

With a larger staff it will be easier and faster to fix if something goes wrong, he said.

Wisper ISP provides internet service to more than 11,500 business and residential customers located in Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

“The Becker family and I have worked hard to make this transition as smooth as possible for the YHTI customers,” Stooke said. “I am excited to be able to serve you and your community by providing the fastest and most reliable internet service around.”

An open house will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Washington office for customers.

“We’re looking forward to meeting all of the customers,” Stooke said.
