The Washington License Office will close this Thursday through Saturday for inventory and transition to a new contractor.

The license office will reopen Monday, Feb. 5, at its new location at 1037 Washington Square.

The new office hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.

To complete a motor vehicle or driver license transaction during the closure, residents should visit the Union, Pacific, St. Clair or Hermann license offices.

The new contractor is License Office Services, LLC, based in Jefferson City. The company was awarded a five-year management contract to operate the Washington office.

The Washington Area Chamber of Commerce had operated the license since 1973. The Chamber was notified in December that it lost the contract.

License Office Services, LLC, also operates the Union License Office.

All license office contracts in Missouri are awarded through a point-based competitive bid process. The Washington Chamber and any interested entities were required to submit a RFP (Request for Proposals) this past September to the state.
