The 2017 Career Fair and Business Expo is set for Thursday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Union High School.
The event offers an opportunity for high school students and the general public to learn about the products manufactured and services available in Union and the surrounding communities.
It also is an opportunity for companies to showcase their products and workforce and the type of education or skills needed in new hires.
“The Union R-XI School District, Union Area Chamber of Commerce and City of Union Community Development Department have come together to make this event a reality due to our shared enthusiasm for our industrial community and our desire to create a workforce-ready community,” said Assistant City Administrator James Schmieder.
Several participating companies will be accepting applications and/or resumes at the event.
The tentative schedule for the day is as follows:
1 to 3 p.m., open to high school students;
3 to 3:30 p.m., networking session for exhibitors; and
3:30 to 6 p.m., open to the general public.
Additional sponsors to help with the cost and to provide refreshments for the exhibitor networking session are being sought.
Those interested in participating should complete a registration form and mail it with payment as soon as possible.
The deadline for registration is Oct. 12.
