OfficeMax and Office Depot have announced a merger of the two companies.

The merger is to create a stronger, combined global company with a wide array of services and solutions that enable customers to work more efficiently and productively, according to an email sent to customers.

“The combined company will build on the best of both organizations to give you even more product choices, advanced technology and printing services, and new innovations to help you work better in business and at home every day,” the email said. The transition is expected to be complete by the end of the calendar year.

So far, the company executives have not indicated how many stores will be closing or their locations.
