Downtown Washington will be getting an ice cold addition in 2018 with the opening of a new ice cream shop on Main Street.

Main Street Creamery is slated to open its doors at 110 W. Main Street in March of 2018, according to owner Rob Kiser, Labadie.

Kiser said the shop, where Mannwell’s Coffee Alley was once located, will offer specialty ice cream creations to downtown visitors and residents. He said he wants to offer a new take on ice cream to the community.

“We want to do things beyond what people have seen before,” he said. “But on top of that we want people to come in and get ice cream cones too.”

Among the more than 20 flavors of ice cream, the creamery will offer custom creations like fried ice cream and edible cookie dough.

Kiser said he was inspired to open up the shop because of his family’s love of ice cream, and the success he saw in other ice cream shops when he lived in Gulf Shores, Ala.

“Ice cream is something we’ve always loved and we want to put a twist on it. We want to be a destination, not just an ice cream place,” Kiser said.

Kiser said if possible he hopes to open the shop as early as February. He said he and his family are looking forward to launching their business downtown.
