The Washington Building Department issued six permits for single-family homes in May, up five from May of last year, according to the monthly report.

The estimated construction cost for the homes is $1,007,001, compared to the estimated cost of $120,000 last May.

The city issued one commercial construction permit for Tiger Express Car Wash at 2330 Willows Court with estimated construction costs of $1,294,435.

There were four commercial alterations for businesses, including $150,000 for Seul Salon Suites at 1082 Washington Square. The total commercial alterations estimated construction cost is $171,908.

In all, the city issued a total of 125 permits in May 2018, totaling $2,903,288 in estimated construction costs. That is compared to 132 permits in May 2017, totaling $230,977.61, and 97 permits in May 2016, totaling $2,194,845.
