There were 85 building permits issued by the Washington Building Department in November, down from the 114 permits issued in the same time frame last year.
There was a total estimated construction cost of $2,472,823, also down from last year’s total of $12,856,189.
There were four commercial alteration permits issued in November for a total of $140,600:
• Revolution Cycles — 116 W. Front St. — adding a bike ramp to front of the building, $2,600;
• Richard Kleinheider — 6244 Highway 100 — tenant build-out for recent addition, $8,000;
• Lawlor Corporation — 901 Patients First Drive — remodel cardiology suite, $50,000; and
• School District of Washington — 2300 Southbend Drive — wall reinforcing/repair work, $80,000.
A permit was issued in November for the grading work at the expansion site of Melton Machine & Control Company (MMCC) with an estimated construction cost of $1,300,000. The company purchased Lot 25 in the Elmer C. Heidmann Industrial Park in Washington and it is expected to nearly double in size.
The company will construct an approximate 300,000-square-foot facility on the 41-acre site located on Highway 100. The expansion also will allow for the creation of at least 40 new jobs.
The company primarily designs and builds automated arc welding systems that are used to build exhaust assemblies, seat frames, suspension components and ride control products such as shock absorbers and struts.
There are 120 employees at the Melton Bluff Road location and 56 employees at its subsidiary, Computech Manufacturing Company, Inc. located at 851 Vossbrink Drive, in the Heidmann Industrial Park. There is a total of 176 employees at the two locations in Washington.
