Wayside South’s deli in Catawissa is serving up more than just a delicious menu. Champs Chicken, a nationwide branded food program, recently named the store a recipient of its 2013 Circle of Excellence Award.

Champs Chicken recognizes its licensees based on outstanding performance and support of the program.

Each year, over 450 locations across the country are evaluated on key performance criteria, such as:

Superior customer service and personnel commitment to the program;

Food preparation and holding procedures;

Overall store cleanliness and equipment maintenance; and

Effective use of Champs Chicken marketing materials.

Wayside South has worked with Champs Chicken for over seven years and is a worthy recipient, officials said.

“We’re thrilled to present this award to Wayside South,” said Doug Eisenhart, vice president of sales for Champs Chicken. “Like us, they’re a company who places a high premium on quality and service, and we want customers to know that this is an outstanding place to frequent.”

Since launching in 1999, Champs Chicken has experienced rapid growth due to its focus on customer care and quality products, including freshly breaded chicken, crunchy catfish and zesty wings. The Circle of Excellence Award program was soon initiated to recognize like-minded business partners.

“We couldn’t be where we are today without the commitment and dedication of our retailers,” said Shawn Burcham, CEO and president of Champs Chicken. “This award is our way of thanking the entire Wayside South team.”

In recognition of outstanding performance, each winning store is awarded a Circle of Excellence plaque and corporate gift.
