Even before the first snow fell Thursday, city crews were working throughout the day to salt bridges said Brian Boehmer, assistant city administrator.
Overall, the first light snow event in the area went “very, very well,” Boehmer said. “We were very fortunate that most of the really serious weather missed Washington.”
Once the snow began, all city streets were treated with salt and cinders.
Boehmer said crews were out most of the night Thursday and a small crew continued checking street conditions early Friday morning.
Crews were checking for slick areas or any spots that may have been missed over- night.
Boehmer said Friday that the city is prepared if more snow hits the area this weekend.
Some snow was predicted for Friday and possibly Sunday.
