Ryan Tinker, CFP, CIMA, financial consultant at Trankler Wealth Management of Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, LLC, in Washington, recently obtained the Certified Investment Management Analyst certification.

The CIMA certification, delivered by Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA), is the only credential designed specifically for investment advisers and consultants.

Tinker has worked at Trankler Wealth Management since 2012, and is responsible for monitoring and designing investment portfolios. He previously was with Wells Fargo Advisors since 2003.

The CIMA certification identifies individuals who have met extensive experience and ethical requirements and successfully completed advanced investment management consulting coursework provided through The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

CIMA professionals must pass a rigorous examination covering a wide range of in-depth investment topics.

Additionally, those who earn the certification must agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements, and adhere to IMCA’s Code of Professional Responsibility, and Standards of Practice.

The CIMA certification has been known for many years as one of the most prestigious credentials for financial professionals seeking the highest level of expertise as an advanced investment consultant.

Additionally, the certification program was recognized in April 2011 as the first financial services designation in the United States to earn accreditation by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under an international personnel certification standard. ANSI is a private nonprofit organization that provides third-party accreditation services and oversees a broad array of standards development processes in the United States.

“The CIMA certification program maintains the high standards we’ve developed over the years by continuing to focus on the ‘Four E’s’ — experience, education, examination and ethics,” said Sean R. Walters, CAE, executive director and CEO of IMCA. “As a result, CIMA certification has become the new standard for investment advice in financial services.”

IMCA was established in 1985 to set the standards and practices for the investment management consulting profession and provide investment consultants with the credentials and tools required to best serve their clients.

“Ryan has worked very hard to get the CIMA designation and is the only financial adviser in the Washington community to hold the designation,” said Charlie Trankler, managing principal of Trankler Wealth Management. “He has become an intricate part of our discretionary portfolio management team.” The company is located at 123 Lafayette St. in Downtown Washington.
