Lost Valley Lake Resort, an ownership resort located in Owensville, is now offering a new type of accommodation with the opening of Riata Ranch — a gated community within the resort.

The ranch allows people to lease a site for their RV or camper with no overnight restrictions, and will feature new, customized cottages, said Brandi Lauth, marketing manager.

The resort has partnered with Clayton Homes to offer one-, two- and three-bedroom cottages people can customize during the building process.

The first phase will allow 84 homes, Lauth said, adding that 70 spaces are still available.

Owners can stay at the resort all summer, weekends or can make the resort their permanent home.

They will have access to all the resort amenities, such as pony rides, two lakes, three ponds, beaches, an indoor recreation facility, arcade room, lounge, etc. Owners also will be allowed golf cart privileges.

Lauth said that while living at resorts is common in other parts of the country “this is new to the Midwest.”

Lauth noted that the homes are secure and people don’t have to worry about maintenance if they are away for extended periods of time.
