For just one dollar, the city council agreed to extend its lease with L.B. Eckelkamp Jr. and Bonnie J. Eckelkamp to run Big Driver driving range and mini golf course for another year.

The council unanimously approved the one-year extension. The new lease agreement starts May 1

Washington first entered into a lease agreement with the Eckelkamps in 2012. The city pays them just $1 to run Big Driver on the land the Eckelkamps own.

In 2013 the city agreed to extend the original lease agreement for another year. On Monday, the council did the same, extending the contract into 2015.

The parks department took over operations of Big Driver in May 2012. In February of this year, Parks and Recreation Director Darren Dunkle got the approval of the park board to extend the lease.

Dunkle said the money for operating Big Driver has already been included in the budget for this year.
