The self-serve frozen yogurt concept has made its way to Washington, with a new Orange Leaf America’s Frozen Yogurt opening at 3024 Phoenix Center Drive.

The business, which is set to open Friday, May 24, is owned by Brad Swederska and Fred Travis. Courtney Swederska is in charge of marketing for Orange Leaf.

Brad Swederska said he’s been working on starting the franchise for more than a year and a half and that he’s always wanted to own his own business.

“I love the product itself and the experience it allows families to have,” he said. “I also love being able to offer a healthier dessert option that is new to the town.”

The store, which is decked out in funky, modern orange and white chairs, stools and couches, will feature 16 different frozen yogurt flavors, as well as an option to swirl each. For example, coconut and pineapple are in the same machine and a lever in the middle swirls the two flavors together.

How It Works

Once visitors have chosen their flavor, they will have an option of more than 40 do-it-yourself toppings ranging from candy to cookies, cereal, fresh fruit, syrup and other choices.

Many options are gluten free. Others are dairy free and some are fat free, Swederska said.

“There are a lot of options to fit a lot of needs and tastes,” Brad Swederska said. “You get to be the master of your dessert,”

“It’s very family friendly and inviting,” his wife Courtney Swederska added.

The Swederskas said they’re excited to be a part of the Washington community and look forward to giving back to the community.

Hours of operation will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. In the winter, Orange Leaf will close one hour earlier.

A grand opening will be announced at a later date.
