The University of Missouri Extension continues to make strides with its Missouri Rhine Valley Association effort.
Plans are for agricultural products produced in Franklin, Gasconade, Montgomery, Warren and St. Charles counties to have a Missouri Rhine Valley label.
“Whether it’s a bottle of wine or a country ham, the goal is when people consume this product they will know there is a certain quality associated with it,” said Matt Herring, MU Extension specialist. “They will come to expect it.”
The concept is similar to that used by wineries to add value to their wine by noting where it was grown. The labels may be applied to any agricultural products and area agri-tourism.
Currently, the Extension is looking for people interested in the Missouri Rhine Valley Association. To learn more contact Herring, 636-583-5141, or e-mail email@example.com.
