Permits Issued Down Slightly in February

A total of 85 permits were issued by Washington’s building department during the month of February, according to a city report.

The number of permits is down by 12 compared to January.

Listed below is a breakdown of the types of projects, number of permits issued and estimated construction costs for those projects:

Residential addition, two, $44,000;

Commercial alteration, five, $130,500;

Residential alteration, five, $61,595;

Commercial building, one $150,000;

Single-family building, one $110,000;

Electrical service, three, $5,000;

Fire alarm system, one $3,488;

Commercial certificate of occupancy, five;

Industrial certificate of occupancy, one;

Multifamily occupancy, 19;

Single-family certificate of occupancy, 35;

Two-family certificate of occupancy, four;

Sign, two, $11,000; and

Street excavation, one, $500.

The total valuation was $516,083.

In January, a total of 97 permits were issued with a total valuation of $663,563.

Last month, the building department issued one permit each for residential addition, industrial addition, industrial alteration, municipal building, commercial building, fire sprinkler system, commercial certificate of occupancy and special use.

There were two permits issued in January for commercial additions, street excavation and preliminary plat; four for commercial alteration, electrical service, sewer lateral/repairs and signs;

Seven permits for residential alterations, 21 for multifamily occupancy, 31 for single-family occupancy, seven for residential alteration; and eight for two-family certificates of occupancy.

The total valuation in January was $663,563
