Doctors and staff at Mehringer Chiropractic in Washington treat a lot of patients, and they treat them like family.

“To me it’s a family environment,” said Shelly Stork, chiropractic assistant. “When you step in, there is no glass window of separation. People know and care about each other and about us.”

Dr. Brett Mehringer started the business 10 years ago April 1. His practice has grown in the last decade, and he added another chiropractor, Dr. Matt Davidson, last year.

One wall in the Mehringer office has a collage of patients giving testimony to what the two doctors have done in their lives, from newborns to elderly.

“See that baby up there?” Davidson asked. “The baby came in about six or eight months ago and the parents said he was extremely colicky, crying about 10 to 15 hours a day. “Within three treatments the baby was better. We changed not only the baby’s life, but the parents’ lives.”

People are seen at Mehringer for a variety of reasons, from back pain to skeletal diseases like scoliosis, and they have even been treated and cured of other ailments that might not seem to relate to the chiropractic business, such as ADHD.

One patient was immediately cured of a headache that had been plaguing her for 26 years, according to Pamela Moon, who joined the staff three months ago.

Chiropractic assistant Victoria Caldwell said another patient had a jaw that was so crooked she couldn’t close her mouth or chew properly.

“The young woman was in severe pain, but now she said she feels perfectly normal,” Caldwell said

The two chiropractors believe in not only treating patient ailments and conditions, but also in providing them with tools to live healthy lifestyles.

“We both are very adamant about health, diet and exercise,” Mehringer said.

Davidson said he has competed in seven Iron Man triathlon events, while Mehringer said he has ran “a handful” of marathons.

Stork said treating the mind also is important at Mehringer.

“We’re spreading a virus of positivity,” she said.

Mehringer Chiropractic is open from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of Thursday hours of 9 a.m. to noon.

The office is located at 1809 Heritage Hills Drive.
