The Washington Area Chamber of Commerce launched of three new programs last month — Marketing Monday, Wake Up, WashMO and Young Professionals.

“Each program is unique in its objectives, but the overall goal is to provide more benefits and opportunities for Chamber members and the community,” said Amanda Griesheimer, Chamber marketing director.

“Our enthusiastic board of directors and staff have been busy evaluating current programs and brainstorming on the best way to continue moving the Chamber forward,” she added.

Griesheimer said the launch of the redesigned Chamber website in March, plus the addition of these new events makes this a great time to be involved with the Chamber.

Marketing Monday is held the first Monday of each month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Chamber boardroom.

“Participants talk about what is working (and sometimes not working) in their marketing plans and share tips, tricks and feedback,” Griesheimer said.

Beginning in July, the format will expand to offer a mini-seminar on a relevant marketing topic.

Scheduled topics include Radio Interview Skills, Writing Effective Press Releases, Website Evaluation, Facebook Contest Guidelines, Google Webmaster Tools/Academy, Customer Service, and Creating a Well Rounded Marketing Plan.

Wake Up, WashMO is a weekly informal networking event hosted by a different Chamber member each week.

The event runs from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and participants can come and go throughout the hour.

A schedule of hosts/locations can be found at washmo.org/chamber/events/wake-up-washmo/.

“Wake Up, WashMO is intended to be a smaller, morning version of the current Business After Hours events,” Griesheimer said. “Both are an excellent way to meet new people and form connections in an ever-growing community.”

The Young Professionals is a new initiative aimed at developing the “Under 40” workforce in the Washington-Area.

“An enthusiastic group of go-getters attended the first event, and it is safe to say that great things can be expected from this group,” Griesheimer said.

There is no set meeting time for the Young Professionals, but interested persons can join the Facebook group, “WashMO Young Professionals,” to stay up-to-date on events and activities.

Griesheimer said the Washington Chamber will continue evaluating and adapting to provide the best service to its members.
