The Downtown Washington Fine Art Fair and Winefest has been named a Midwest Travel Treasurer by AAA Midwest Traveler magazine.

Featured in the May-June issue, the art fair and winefest was recognized for its appeal to typical AAA members.

The magazine’s Travel Treasurer series is part of each bimonthly issue.

The Downtown Washington Fine Art Fair and Winefest also received a certificate of designation.

“What a great surprise and honor,” said Bridgette Epple, executive director of Downtown Washington Inc., which sponsors the festival.

“We have such a dedicated group of volunteers who put on the art fair and winefest each year so it’s exciting to have their efforts shared with a larger audience,” Epple said. “I also hope it draws even more visitors the event.”

The three-day festival attracts more than 20,000 people.

The magazine circulates to more than 560,000 AAA homes in Missouri, southern Illinois, eastern Kansas and southern Indiana.

More than 71 percent of readers choose the Midwest for their vacation destination.

“We’re pleased to add Downtown Washington Fine Art Fair and Winefest to the growing list of ‘treasures’ in our region,” said Michael Right, editor/publisher of AAA Midwest Traveler.

“Our members recognize the Midwest has endless travel and recreational opportunities,” he said. “We try to offer events like this to our readers to encourage more exploration of local sites and attractions.”

In its 33rd year, this year art fair and winefest will be held May 16-18 downtown.
