In Union, Mercy is winding down services at its Convenient Clinic and ramping up services at its other Mercy Clinic to keep things “convenient” for patients.

The Convenient Care Clinic in Union, 1935 Prairie Dell Road, is closing June 27, but its services are moving to the Mercy Clinic Family Medicine practice in the same building.

“As a nonprofit, we’re very cognizant of providing patients with services of greatest need. As needs change, we change too,” said Jennifer Scheer, MD, medical director. “We can help more patients by closing the Convenient Care Clinic and implementing those preferred services at our existing clinic in the same building, where we’ll have more patients to take advantage of those conveniences and a bigger staff to accommodate their needs.”

When the Convenient Care Clinic closes, Mercy still will have two Mercy Clinic physicians’ offices in Union as well as laboratory and therapy services. Lab, therapy and one Mercy Clinic physician’s office are all located at 1935 Prairie Dell Road.

A second Mercy Clinic physician’s office is located at 97 St. Andrews Drive. Both Mercy Clinic physicians’ offices are accepting new patients of all ages. The offices are supported by eight physicians and two nurse practitioners who offer same-day appointments.

Walk-in appointments will be available at the Prairie Dell location along with extended weekday and Saturday morning hours. Convenient Care Clinic patients will pay the same health insurance co-payment they are used to.

“We’re still offering walk-in appointments and extended hours, but the clinic will be part of the family medicine practice at Prairie Dell, instead of a separate Convenient Care,” said Dr. Scheer. “The change will help us provide the best care to the most patients.”

Closing Mercy Convenient Clinic will leave an empty space in the building. “There’s potential to expand the family medicine practice or bring in other services. We’re evaluating just what Mercy can provide that would bring the most benefits to the people we serve,” said Dr. Scheer.

For information about Mercy Clinic Union at Prairie Dell, people may call 636-583-2508. For more information about Mercy Clinic Union at St. Andrews Drive, call 636-583-2946. For illnesses and injuries that need swift attention but are not life threatening, patients can also go to a Mercy Urgent Care or Convenient Care Clinic. Mercy has a Convenient Care Clinic in Washington and an Urgent Care in Eureka. For an emergency, they should call 911.
