A complete renovation will transform what is now Hotel Washington into a Best Western Plus, according to the new owner, Niten Patel.
Patel, of Eureka, is the owner of four other hotels, including the Comfort Inn in Pacific and in Sullivan. He owns the hotels with his business partner Andy Patel.
The renovation at the Washington facility, formerly the Sleep Inn & Suites, will feature new furniture, beds, new room schemes, paint and a full exterior renovation. Patel also will add new landscaping, repave the parking lot and paint the exterior.
Because of the ongoing renovations, not all reservations made with the previous chain can be accommodated, Patel said.
Those who cannot be accommodated have been contacted, he said, and the hotel is assisting them in finding other hotels.
“We want to apologize to the guests who have made reservations with the previous franchise,” he said. “We understand that this may interrupt plans they have made for the past year or so. Unfortunately (the renovations) are something we need to do right away.”
Patel said the last thing he wants to do is ruin people’s plans, but there really is no good time to do a major renovation.
There are three categories of Best Western — Best Western, Best Western Plus and Best Western Premier.
“With Best Western Plus we will have all the amenities of Best Western Premier without the full service,” he said, noting restaurant and room service will not be offered.
The renovations and name change are expected to be completed in early August.
Patel said he feels that Best Western Plus is the best fit for the Washington area.
“We’re looking forward to raising the bar to what Washington can offer as far as hospitality,” he said. “It’s a great area where a lot of people come to visit, and we would like to be the premier spot to host any hospitality needs.”
In addition to the 71-room hotel, there is a banquet hall and expo center that can accommodate 100 to 150 people, Patel said.
A business center with two computers and Wi-Fi also will be available, as well as a newly renovated fitness center and a sundry with toiletries, snacks and other items guests can purchase.
All of the guest rooms will be upgraded with 40-inch LED TVs with HD channels.
Patel said he looks forward to working with the business community and those looking to host other events.
The hotel is located at 2621 East Fifth St. It can be reached by calling 636-390-8877.
