Dan Yoest Insurance has been serving the Washington area both professionally and personally for 25 years.

Seeking to provide more insurance options for clients, Yoest started the independent insurance company in 1988. His wife Guin, who worked as an underwriter for a St. Louis insurance company, joined him in 1996.

“Dan decided to try a scratch agency with zero policyholders,” Guin Yoest said.

The couple started in Washington at 411 W. Fifth St. and moved their growing business and their residence to the current location at 401 Elm St. in 1995.

The company now has nine agents on staff, including the Yoests, and today offers a full line of both commercial and personal insurance.

Dan and Guin Yoest also have given a lot back to the community by supporting many community events and charities.

“We’ve been very blessed, and we believe when you give, good things flow back to you,” Guin Yoest said. “Our motto has always been, ‘Service Is the Heart of Our Business.’ ”

The Yoests are active members of the St. Francis Borgia Parish and the Optimist Club.

They have two grown daughters and enjoy outdoor activities.
