Ameren Missouri recently donated a 37-foot basket truck to the Union R-XI School District.
The donation was a demonstration of the support Ameren has for the community, said Larry Shroth, customer service adviser at the Ameren Missouri Meramec Valley Division.
“We are really pleased to make this truck donation to the Union Public School District and its students,” he said. “For Ameren Missouri, this provides an opportunity to support a school district that greatly contributes to the vitality and success of the community.”
Superintendent Steve Bryant said the truck — a Ford F-550 — will be used for maintenance purposes at the district’s five schools, as well as for various outdoor tasks at each of those facilities.
He added that the district, which has just one other basket truck, really needed another. The new edition has more reach, capabilities and is far more stable, Bryant said.
“We really appreciate the thoughtfulness of Ameren Missouri in providing this donation,” Bryant said.
He said it alleviates the need to buy a basket truck in the future and allows money and resources to go where they can be most effective – to the classroom.
“With this tight budget, we’re very appreciative,” Bryant said. “It’s always nice to get an additional piece of equipment that we can use. This donation really helps the district in other areas and allows us to keep money closer to the classroom.”
