Plans are in high gear this week for the upcoming Missouri High School Rodeo, which will take place in the Liberty Field equestrian center this weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11, the state rodeo will host a daytime event for high school cowboys and cowgirls from across the state.

The Missouri High School Rodeo Association sanctions the event, which will take place rain or shine.

Wooten Rodeo Company will conduct the high school rodeo.

The cost to the city is $11,600 to provide livestock and conduct the rodeo.

Richard Adams, city code enforcement officer, is Pacific’s point man for the rodeo. He will spend the final days leading up to the competition organizing volunteers and making certain the city lives up to its agreement to prepare the equestrian arena for the competition.

Pacific also will provide some equipment, have emergency vehicles on hand and provide hay and grain for livestock.

Anyone who would want to volunteer to assist with the event can contact Adams at 636-271-0500.
