The last day to file for the Washington School Board election in April is Tuesday, Jan 21.
The district administration office, 220 Locust St. in Washington, will be open until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
As of Friday morning, there were three registered candidates — Scott Byrne, 261 Hunters Ridge Drive, Labadie, and Janie Chalem, 410 Brookfield Drive, Washington, who both filed opening day; and Anton Burger Hinrichs, 2553 E. Fifth St., Washington, who filed last week.
There are three open seats. The terms of Byrne, Jennifer Triplett and Brian Sumner will expire this spring.
Board members are elected to three-year terms.
If there are only three candidates for the three open seats, the district is not required to hold an election.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and resident taxpayers of the district, who have resided in Missouri for one year preceding the election.
Candidates also must be at least 24 years of age, not a registered sex offender, not serving a sentence or period of probation for a felony or a crime that if committed in Missouri would have been a felony, and never been convicted of or pled guilty to a felony misdemeanor under federal laws.
