Washington added another endorsement to its annexation plan at the meeting of the Washington Park Board.
Park Board members unanimously voted to support the annexation plan ahead of the Aug. 5 election.
The endorsement was the third this week the city has received. Earlier in the week the Board of Public Works and the Planning and Zoning Commission voted to back the plan.
The Washington Fire Department, the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber Ambassadors, the Washington Civic Industrial Corporation, the Highway and Transportation Committee, 353 Washington Redevelopment Corporation and the Downtown Core Restructuring Committee have all offered endorsements.
“I’m pleased that, as we continue to make our presentation, we continue to pick up endorsements for the plan,” Mayor Sandy Lucy said.
Before the election Lucy said she still has several more presentations to make in an effort to pick up more endorsements.
