The Pacific Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend approval of a new motorcycle sales and service store at 510 E. Osage in the former grocery story building located in the East Osage strip mall.

The building has served as a grocery store, Western Auto and was a Dollar General store until it moved into a new building on the opposite side of Osage Street in April 2012. The building has been vacant since then.

Dave and Nicklette Clark of Wildwood plan to purchase the building and move their existing business, Forever Endeavor Cycles, to Pacific to offer sales and service, as well as parts for motorcycles and other vehicles.

Todd Streiler, zoning officer, said the staff saw no problems with this type of business in the commercial C-1 zoning district. He said it is consistent with the neighborhood and would bring no adverse effects.

There would be no outdoor storage, he said, because the owners bring all the products in at night.

Forever Endeavor serves mainly a BMW motorcycles clientele in the 55 and over age group, according to the owners.

“Our customers are not a bunch of rabble rousers,” Dave Clark said. “We keep things clean.”

Hours of the business will be Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The business will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Planning commissioners voiced their pleasure that a new business wants to move into the vacant building.

“You guys are a great fit and I’m glad to see you there,” Mike Bates said. “The Old Plaza will be getting some new life.”

With Commissioners Gary Bay and Robert Sanders absent, the board voted unanimously to recommend approval. Aldermen will consider the measure at the next scheduled meeting.
