Seven individuals filed opening day to have their names placed on the ballot for the April 4, 2014, municipal election.

The first day for filing was Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Candidates included five incumbents and two challengers.

Among the incumbents who want to retain their seats are Matt Mansell, police chief; Dan Leslie, municipal judge; Debbie Kelley, collector; Mike Pigg, Ward 3 alderman; and Steve Myers, Ward 2 alderman.

Mayor Herb Adams and Ward 1 alderman Ed Gass did not file opening day, but are expected to file later to retain their seats.

Jeff Palmore, Bell Funeral Parlor owner/operator, has filed for the office of mayor. Palmore has been a previous candidate for mayor and alderman.

Dale Goodwin, Franklin County sheriff’s deputy and former Pacific police officer, is challenging Mansell for the office of police chief.

Candidates have until Tuesday, Jan. 21, to file to have their names placed on the ballot.
