Six-year-old Carrie Evers donated 22 1/2 inches of her long hair to Locks of Love after hearing about children with cancer losing their hair due to cancer treatments. Donated human hair is used to make wigs for the children to wear until their own hair grows back. Patty from Great Cuts in St. Clair cut Carrie's hair. Carrie is the daughter of Aaron and Molly Evers of Union and the granddaughter of Lee and Larry Evers of St. Clair.
Doug Kniffen submitted this photo of a lunar eclipse that happened Saturday morning, Dec. 10. He said a lot of people missed the viewing, noting that the moon was way down in the trees as seen from Warren County in this photo. He said maybe it was the 14°F temperature, but more likely people missed it because the moon didn't move into the darker umbra of Earth's shadow until shortly before the moon slipped below the horizon. He said the next chance to see a lunar eclipse will be on the morning of April 15, 2014.
Ken Schroeder, Washington, submitted this photo of Santa who is much bigger than life. Actually he is 16 feet tall.
