The Union FFA chapter has kicked off a fantastic school year, students said.

Things started out in late August with an ice cream social before parent-teacher night. Ice cream was served to the members and family who came through.

Officers and other upper-classmen got to know the younger members while enjoying ice cream. Parents and other family members also got to enjoy the goodies and meet with the three advisers and ask any questions they had.

The first meeting was held Sept. 8. After school that day, the club held its annual “Big Brother, Big Sister” activity.

At this activity, upper-classmen get to know the younger kids involved in FFA.

Before this meeting, students played kickball and other games in the parking lot. Students also played leadership and “icebreaker” games to get to know new members.

After members had worked up an appetite, they ate fried fish and potatoes while watching a movie and enjoying each other’s company until the meeting was ready to start.
