The Muny will hold a Centennial Birthday Bash that provides a free open house Sunday, May 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. Guests will enjoy once-in-a-lifetime experiences that celebrate musical theater, community and The Muny.
Themed activities planned for the event and The Muny show that inspired them include:
Camel rides (“Aladdin”); bandstand (“All Shook Up”); birthday cake art project; headshot mosaic (“A Chorus Line”); reunion photos (“Follies”); great circle sensory friendly area; History Museum exhibit preview; interactive backstage tours; live local bands; Ferris wheel (“Meet Me In St. Louis”); Mile of Muny Memories; Munchkin Land performances; My Muny Story; karaoke (“No Business Like Show Business”); photo keepsakes; photo on stage; instrumental petting zoo (“School of Rock Academy”); strolling characters; cupcakes; food trucks; The Melting Pot; Muny centennial souvenirs.
The event will culminate with a grand finale inside the theater.
“You can’t turn 100 without throwing a party,” said Muny President and CEO Denny Reagan. “This Birthday Bash is the perfect opportunity for us to invite the community to really celebrate the fact that their support is what has sustained this theater for a century.”
The event is free to attend. However, food items, Muny souvenirs and some activities will be available for purchase.
