A senior forum will be held Wednesday, April 30, at the First Washington Methodist Church to address senior housing.
This is the first of a series of open discussions geared toward assisting families on topics including dementia, housing, health care, and other “family matters” impacting aging family members.
On hand will be local providers of licensed, and independent living facilities who will showcase their facility.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m. Forum volunteers will be available to answer questions privately before and after the program.
The church is located at 4349 St. John’s Road, Washington.
Local attorney Gordon Upchurch is spearheading the group to begin a public dialogue about these topics, and others. He solicited the help of about 10 volunteers who will continue the dialogue of seniors needs in Franklin County.
Upchurch explained that through working with elder law, estates, and from personal experience, there are resources for caregivers and family members of the elderly.
The group would address and direct people to needed services, educate people of all of their options, sharing personal experiences, discussing the signs of dementia and other topics.
