The Washington Rotary Club along with the Washington Parks Department will hold their annual free outing and picnic on the Riverfront Trail Wednesday, June 5.

Seniors and people of any age who are unable to walk the trail will be given tram rides or pushed in wheelchairs along the Rotary Riverfront Trail. Rides will start at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m.

A free picnic lunch will be served by volunteers, including students from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School and Washington High School from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, ice cream sundaes and plenty of refreshments.

Bingo games under the main pavilion will start at 9 a.m. and will end at 2 p.m.

Lots of prizes donated from area businesses will be given away.

This will be the 14th event for the Riverfront Trail Day which was started by Barb Hellmann who loves walking the trail and had the dream of finding a way for anyone who was unable to walk the Rotary Riverfront Trail to be able to see its beauty.

This event has grown into a “Special Day” for area seniors. It’s the community’s way of giving back to them for all they have done. Many residents from area nursing homes and assisted living centers have participated in the past.

Free transportation to and from this event will be provided to people living within the Washington city limits.

Reservations can be made after May 1. Watch for more details in the May 2013 Senior LifeTimes.

Any local business or individuals who would like to make donations for bingo and attendance prizes should contact Sharon Monzyk at 314-708-5210.
