Congratulations to Leopoldo Gonzalez Cisneros, an 8th-grade student at Washington Middle School, for winning this week’s News Quiz. Leopoldo wins a $15 gift card to Imo’s Pizza in Washington and Union, our sponsor for this week’s Missourian In Education News Quiz, based on news in the March March 17-18 weekend issue of The Missourian.
Here are the answers to this week’s quiz:
March 14 was Pi Day – and a front page photo shows what one school did for fun on that day. Why is it called Pi Day and share one activity featured?
Pi is commonly represented by the number 3.14 and that is also represented by the date March 14. Answers will vary: reciting the numbers of pi, a pie-eating contest, relay and toss.
March is Adopt a Rescued Guinea Pig Month! Using the story, share three tips for someone planning to adopt a guinea pig, rabbit or a similar pet.
Provide adequate living space including a roomy cage with clean bedding, enrichment toys to keep them busy, a water bottle and the appropriate food. Guinea pigs are extremely social, so spend lots of time with them and consider adopting two same-sex pets to keep each other company. They need frequent grooming and regular cage cleanings.
How many black bears are there estimated to be in Missouri?
Missouri is estimated to have 350 native black bears.
Thanks for taking the News Quiz this week!
